Calix expands subscription-based Calix Cloud services

Broadband technology provider Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX) has announced an expanded suite of cloud-based offerings for service providers. The subscription-based Calix Cloud suite supports the use of network data analytics and provides subscriber experience assurance, the company says.

Broadband technology provider Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX) has announced an expanded suite of cloud-based offerings for service providers. The subscription-based Calix Cloud suite builds on the company's experience with its Compass software suite (see, for example, "Calix offers Flow Analyzer 2.0, update of traffic usage tool" and "Calix offers consulting services") to better support the use of network data analytics and provide subscriber experience assurance, the company says.

The suite is organized by the business function each element is designed to enhance. The initial five subscriptions within the Calix Cloud family include:

  • Subscriber Cloud, which enables cloud-enhanced self-care for broadband customers and business efficiencies for service providers
  • Marketing Cloud, which is used to support the development of analytics-based growth and subscriber retention strategies, as well as automate customer segmentation efforts
  • Support Cloud, earmarked for customer service representatives
  • Operations Cloud, designed to enable network operations teams to efficiently control the subscriber experience by linking subscriber behavior and network performance
  • Planning Cloud, which will help network planners to determine the best investments based on subscriber behavior data.

Calix will host the software that enables each cloud service, company sources said. A robust set of APIs enables customers to interface the subscription services with in-house systems and resources as required.

"With more than 400 service providers already relying on Calix for their access cloud services, we have gained invaluable feedback over these last five years that we continue to integrate into our innovation cycle based on the most pertinent and transformative issues facing service providers today," said Miguel Alonso, Calix vice president of cloud services. "Service providers must unlearn the muscle memory of inefficient processes and the tedious parsing of data. By leveraging Calix Cloud to discover insights, simplify their operations, and elevate their business and their subscriber experience, service providers will benefit from unprecedented agility and gain clear competitive advantage."

Calix expects customers to begin using Calix Cloud in first quarter of 2017.
