May 11, 2005 Minneapolis, MN -- Project Mutual Telephone Co-op (PMT) of Rupert, Idaho, has selected Optical Solutions' FiberPath 500 FTTP system to deliver voice, video, and data services to Twin Falls, Idaho.
"The Magic Valley region of Idaho needs advanced communications services to stay connected and competitive," remarks Mike Walsh, PMT central office manager. "Recently we used the FiberPath system to deploy telephone, IPTV, and data services to the College of Southern Idaho, the canyon rim residential area, and the Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls."
The GPON standards-compliant FiberPath system provides bandwidths up to 1.2-Gbit/sec downstream, and 622-Mbit/sec upstream.
"We are very pleased that Project Mutual Telephone has selected Optical Solutions as their fiber access partner," comments Mike Dagenais, president and CEO of Optical Solutions. "PMT recognizes the importance of quality voice, video, and data services, and understands how our system's unique Layer 3-driven QoS helps them deliver crystal clear audio and video services."
PMT began service in 1916 with 34 telephone customers. Today the co-op provides over 12,000 customers in Idaho's Magic Valley with telephone, high-speed Internet, and cable TV services.
