April 15, 2005 Hayward, CA -- Terawave, a manufacturer of converged access platforms for service providers, announced today that Russian carrier Firma ITEL used Terawave's PON converged access products to provide all communications services for this year's Figure Skating World Championship, held March 13 - 20 at the Luzniki Sport Complex in Moscow.
"We faced a challenge to select and deploy an access network technology capable of ensuring Quality-of-Service, high reliability, and a very short deployment time," explains Denis Kireev, technical director at ITEL. "We had been using Terawave products for more than a year, and its excellent performance, reliability, and ease of installation and operation were the determining factors in our product choice for this critical project."
"We are proud of the vote of confidence that Firma ITEL gave Terawave when they chose us to help ensure the success of such a prestigious event," adds Frank Lockwood, senior VP sales and marketing at Terawave. "Working closely with our local partner, Telecom Transport, we helped ITEL deliver an integrated access network that fulfilled its stringent requirements to quickly deploy a reliable, multi-service network."
