September 27, 2005 Petaluma, CA -- Fiberxon and Teknovus announced the formation of a strategic partnership to interface Teknovus' TK37xx family of EPON chips with the Fiberxon's GEPON OLT and ONU transceivers. The companies say this seamless interfacing of products used in FTTH broadband access networks will reduce development costs and time-to-market for IPTV-capable FTTH equipment manufacturers.
According to the companies, the focus of the partnership is the development of a glueless interface between the respective products, eliminating the need for expensive interface circuitry. The companies say their proven reference designs will enable FTTH equipment manufacturers to significantly reduce the cost of IPTV-capable FTTH products.
"Time to market is everything. Providing a robust reference design to equipment manufacturers significantly shortens their design cycles," confirms Jack Lu, VP of marketing and sales of Fiberxon. "By combining Teknovus' powerful EPON chipsets and Fiberxon's market-leading transceivers into proven reference designs, we are providing equipment manufacturers a quick route to deployment-ready IPTV-capable triple-play products."
"This strategic partnership is another important step in the growth of the EPON eco-system," adds Dr. Lowell Lamb, VP of marketing at Teknovus. "A fully developed components eco-system, built on products that are fully standards-compliant, ensures that FTTH equipment manufacturers have access to best-of-breed solutions."
A joint reference design incorporating both products is available.
