S&T Iskratel debuts high-capacity PON OLTs, CPE

S&T Iskratel unveiled new high-capacity PON optical line terminals (OLTs) as well as an XGS-PON optical network terminal (ONT) and mesh Wi-Fi 6 access point in time for this week’s FTTH Conference in Madrid, Spain.

The Iskratel Lumia T6 OLT boasts a 1.4-Tbps uplink capacity while the Iskratel Lumia T14 OLT provides greater density. At the subscriber’s location, the Iskratel Innbox X24 ONT and Iskratel Innbox M92 EasyMesh-compliant mesh Wi-Fi 6 access point are designed to help ensure customers can take full advantage of the bandwidth delivered to them.

The company asserts that the Iskratel Lumia T6’s 1.4-Tbps uplink capacity makes it the fastest shelf-based PON OLT available. The system features an 800-Gbps-per-subscriber blade and 3.4-Tbps switching capacity to support XGS-PON and future 50G PON and 100G PON architectures, S&K Iskratel asserts.

The Iskratel Lumia T14 OLT provides greater density than the T6. The T14 supports PON connectivity to more than 50,000 users with its 208/192 Combo PON ports; the T6 serves more than 20,000 users with its 80/64 ports. The fact that both OLTs can operate in temperature ranges from –40 °C to +65 °C enables operators to use them either in the central office or in outdoor locations such as street cabinets. They also are designed to support virtualized operation.

“Services such as video conferencing, 4K video streaming, gaming and cloud storage are all gaining popularity rapidly, creating a rising demand for data rates for a reliable performance,” said Simon Čimžar, CTO, Business Unit Broadband at S&T Iskratel. “The outstanding uplink capacities of our new OLTs are the fastest way to unlocking a greener future, due to full compliance with the EU Code of Conduct on Energy Consumption of Broadband Equipment, fundamental in enabling operators to reduce energy costs and their impact on the environment.”

At the other end of the fiber to the premises link, the Iskratel Innbox X24 can operate as a bridge or router, offering a dual-box FTTH setup in both single- or multi-operator deployments. The ONT has both 1-Gbps and 10-Gbps LAN ports to support multi-gigabit services of 2.5, 5, and 10 Gbps. The Innbox X24 also features an integrated fiber-termination unit (FTU) to ease deployment and reduce operational expenditure.

New FTTH CPE

Meanwhile, the Iskratel Innbox M92 can act as an agent access point, mesh controller, or (via its gigabit Ethernet WAN) as a home gateway. It can support single-box FTTH setups as well as dual-box setups with FTTH or 5G FWA. It supplies a 1.8 Gbps cumulative Wi-Fi data rate and delivers a full gigabit of throughput over dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and two Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports. The Innbox M92 also hosts the company’s Innbox Premium Application Suite, which is designed to provide enhanced security and privacy as well as increase service provider revenues.
