The Calix Intelligent EDGE XG801 Line Card positions BSPs to simplify and scale future proof XGS-PON and/or GPON networks that deliver 100G transport while dramatically slashing opex with the Calix Intelligent Access EDGE platform. The E7-2 XG801 line card provides eight XGS-PON/GPON OLT ports and four additional 10GE SFP+ sockets for point-to-point Ethernet connections or 10G transport. Use of the XG801 can reduce back-office system integration by as much as 83% while decreasing time-to-provision and turnup new services by up to 87%, says Calix. The line card also benefits from advanced thermal management capabilities that enable the use of commercial-temperature optics in harsh environments.

Judge’s Comment: “Calix brings multiple significant innovations to the marketplace with its Intelligent EDGE XG801 Line Card. The vendor equips its product with four additional 10GE SFP+ sockets (beyond the eight XGS-PON ports) for point-to-point Ethernet connections or 10G transport. In addition, the XG801 provides temperature-hardened 100G transport to backhaul all the traffic the card has aggregated. Further, Calix has developed advanced thermal management for the line card to enable the use of non-hardened 10G modules in the product.”
