CommScope (NASDAQ: COMM) will leverage next week’s ANGA COM show in Germany to unveil a cloud-to-edge suite of XGS-PON elements for greenfield and fiber-deep applications. The SDN-enabled suite leverages three pillars, says CommScope: a flexible architecture; open, interoperable components; and cloud-based operation.
Four components make up the suite:
- a new CommScope FLX PON OLT and ONU portfolio
- ServAssure domain management and ServAssure NXT performance management software
- fiber connectivity products
- engineering and project management services.
“CommScope helped pioneer the modern GPON and EPON access market, and now we’re introducing the next phase of evolution with our cloud-to-edge next-gen XGS-PON suite,” asserted Ric Johnsen, senior vice president of CommScope and president the company’s connectivity and cable solutions business. “The new PON solution suite leverages our access network expertise to unlock an unmatched range of capabilities in active and passive solutions across the many stages and topologies of fiber deployment. Together with our telco and cable operator customers, as well as new entrants in the FTTH deployment, CommScope will usher in the next generation of high-speed networks to deliver new services and experiences to millions of consumers around the world.”
The ability to leverage SDN and open architecture capabilities will accelerate time to revenue and optimize capex; reduce opex, risk, and complexity; and help operators take advantage of new technologies and capabilities more quickly than with conventional approaches, CommScope says.
