Chinese DSL deal for Ericsson

Jan. 1, 2003

Ericsson has been awarded a contract by China Telecom to expand the operator's DSL network in southern China. The order is one of the first commercial contracts for Ericsson's Ethernet DSL Access solution, which features the "world's smallest" DSLAM.

Ericsson will provide China Telecom with Asymmetric DSL (ADSL) lines across five cities in Anhui Province, mostly for residential subscribers. The ADSL lines will be delivered using Ericsson's scalable Ethernet DSL Access solution. The solution enables standard ADSL lines to be offered economically at smaller sites (starting from eight subscribers) and uses Ethernet technology.
