reltec Corp. of Cleveland, OH, and BellSouth have completed a technical trial at an apartment complex in Duluth, GA, using reltec`s fiber-to-the-curb (fttc) equipment. The equipment used during the trial supports 10-Mbit/sec symmetrical 10Base-T personal computer data circuits. According to reltec, computer users had access to stored digital video using server technology provided by ncube Corp. reltec also completed a separate 10-week fttc trial in a Clayton, NC, housing development using its Deep Fiber Solutions equipment. Using a local exchange carrier, reltec tested its delivery of GR-303 telephony, analog, and digital broadcast video, and Ethernet connectivity over a single-fiber architecture using its fttc platform. The trial included transmission of analog and digital broadcast video from a single headend over more than 110 mi of fiber, with help from Harmonic Lightwaves Inc. of Sunnyvale, CA.
