AT&T has added Nashville, TN, to the list of communities in which it supplies its 1-Gbps U-verse with AT&T GigaPower fiber to the home (FTTH) service. Residents in parts of Clarksville, Lebanon, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Smyrna, and other communities in the metro area also may elect the service.

Nashville was among 21 markets AT&T said in 2014 it was considering for the 1-Gbps FTTH services (see "AT&T releases list of potential new 1-Gbps FTTH markets"). While the service provider touts the roll out as Nashville's first experience with gigabit broadband, Google Fiber also has said it plans to offer such services in the relatively near future (see "Google Fiber to bring FTTH to four southeastern cities, looks at five more"). Comcast, meanwhile, announced May 6 that it plans to offer its symmetrical 2-Gbps services in the Nashville area starting this month.

AT&T will offer single, double-, and triple-play bundles. They will include:

  • U-verse High Speed Internet Premier, with 1-Gbps Internet starting at $120 a month, or speeds at 100 Mbps at $90 a month, with a one year price guarantee.
  • U-verse High Speed Internet Premier + TV includes 1-Gbps broadband and "qualifying" TV service starting at $150 a month, or speeds at 100 Mbps with TV starting at $120 a month, also with a one-year price guarantee.
  • U-verse High Speed Internet Premier + TV + Voice: 1-Gbps Internet, TV, and Unlimited U-verse Voice starting at $180 a month, or Internet speeds of 100 Mbps, TV, and Unlimited U-verse Voice starting at $150 a month, with a two-year price guarantee.

The service provider currently offers U-verse with AT&T GigaPower in 11 markets: Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Cupertino, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Nashville, Kansas City, Raleigh-Durham and Winston-Salem. It also has announced plans to roll out the service in Charlotte and Greensboro, NC; Jacksonville, and Miami, FL; St. Louis; and San Antonio.
