Lumen’s unveils 8-Gbps tier for Quantum Fiber

Aug. 8, 2022
The service will roll out to select residents and small businesses in cities near Denver, Minneapolis, and Seattle initially.

Lumen Technologies announced that it will offer a tier of its Quantum Fiber internet service that will deliver speeds up to 8 Gbps. The service will roll out to select residents and small businesses in cities near Denver, Minneapolis, and Seattle initially. The symmetric multi-gigabit capabilities are provided using XGS-PON technology.

Lumen will install a permanent network interface and router at the premises that is separate from the customer’s WiFi to allow easy activations and simple upgrades as technology evolves. Quantum Fiber plans to begin offering multi-gigabit internet plans in additional markets later this year.

“This is a game-changer for Internet users who want to broaden their horizons with multi-gigabit connections,” says Maxine Moreau, president of Lumen Mass Markets. “Quantum fiber service delivers reliably fast Internet for the increasing number of connected devices, virtual work environments, next-level gaming and the ability to upload extremely large files in a matter of seconds.”
