TDS offers 2-Gbps broadband services in Washington, Idaho markets
TDS Fiber says it is “now capable” of offering 2-Gbps internet services in Spokane, WA, and Meridian, ID. The service provider says it will offer such symmetrical broadband rates in all of its new markets going forward.
TDS Fiber launched a 1100-mile fiber network deployment in Spokane in 2020 with a goal of connecting more than 88,000 homes and businesses. The company turned up the fiber to the premises (FTTP) network in nine neighborhoods earlier this year and announced plans in June to expand within Spokane County and Spokane Valley, with the network ready to connect 22,000 addresses in Spokane County, including the City of Millwood, and 46,000 addresses in Spokane Valley.
In Idaho, TDS Fiber has launched its FTTP network in four neighborhoods in Meridian. The company expects its FTTP infrastructure to eventually connect more than 57,000 homes and businesses in Meridian, Garden City, and the Town of Boise.
All of which will make 2-Gbps broadband available to a greater number of customers. “The technology offers reliable speeds residents are looking for now more than ever, especially for those working at home, going to school, or staying in touch with family and friends online,” said Julie Maiers, vice president of TDS marketing and product development. “2-gig provides the best online experience for streamers, gamers, social media users, and families with multiple users.”
