Having built fiber to about 157,000 new locations in the second quarter of 2021, the company now expects to reach 600,000 new locations by the end of this year, totaling 4 million fiber locations.

Following significant progress in 2021, Frontier Communications has upped its network extension goal to reach 10 million total locations by the end of 2025. Having built fiber to about 157,000 new locations in the second quarter of 2021, the company now expects to reach 600,000 new locations by the end of this year, totaling 4 million fiber locations.

“Demand for high-speed broadband is growing rapidly, and fiber is the best product to meet the needs of consumers and businesses,” says Nick Jeffery, president and chief executive officer at Frontier. “Frontier is already doing what customers want and cable can’t – delivering symmetrical download and upload speeds with far lower latency than our competition.”

Frontier currently offers symmetrical gigabit download and upload speeds. The company’s outlook includes plans to launch a symmetrical 2-Gbps offering in first quarter 2022 with a new target of $250 million run rate savings by 2023.
