Prysmian Group North America has expanded its ezMicroduct line with a high-count cable that can enable installers to squeeze 432 fibers as well as optional tone wires into a 14-mm inside diameter microduct.

“Many microduct users want higher fiber counts, as well as the ability to locate installed cables,” explained Marc-Olivier Blais, who manages the ezMicroduct product line. “This new design supports both requirements without forcing customers to choose between a 432 count and the inclusion of tone wires. In fact, our new design also boasts capacity for an additional 96 fibers bringing the total to 528, making it one of the highest fiber density microduct products on the market.”

The cables leverage 200-micron bend-insensitive fiber. The fiber uses the same glass as conventional 250-micron fiber, which enables the splicing to such legacy fibers via standard splice equipment.
