Danish fiber installation technology specialist Fremco has unveiled the Nanoflow fiber blowing machine. The company says it has designed the Nanoflow to safely and efficiently install Enhanced Performance Fiber Unit (EPFU) fibers in fiber to the home (FTTH) applications with minimal breakage.
The Nanoflow protects FTTH fibers from damage in two ways. First, the system enables technicians to preset the torgue system to the specific fiber type and load; the system then gradually blows teh fiber to the maximum limit and then immediately interrupts the blowing process. Second, if the technician mistakenly sets the torque higher than the fiber's maximum load capacity, the Nanoflow will immediately stop the blowing process.
The unit measures 200 mm in length, 135 mm in height, and 100 mm in width. It weighs is as low as 2500 g (5.5 lbs). The Nanoflow is powered by a 24V 2.0 Ah Li-ion battery; Fremco supplies two such batteries and a charging system. Fremco asserts the two batteries are more than sufficient for a full day of fiber installation.
The machine accommodates ducts sizes of 3-10 mm and fiber sizes of 0.8-2.8 mm. Technicians can use the Nanoflow without air, but for typical end-user blowing distances of 300-500 m, adding compressed air will improve the blowing process, enabling blowing distances of up to 1200 m, Fremco says.
The Nanoflow comes with two sets of adaptor plates for 1.1-1.2 mm and 1.4-1.6 mm EPFU fiber (2f-12f) and with duct adaptors for duct sizes 3-5-7-8-10 mm. Adaptor plates for other fiber sizes can be made on request.
Accessories include a tripod with a quick adaptor and a shoulder strap to carry the machine. The Nanoflow can blow fiber while hanging from the shoulder strap. Meanwhile, a reel holder arm for pre-connected fiber also is available. Fremco also offers a 24V 4.0 Ah Li-ion battery for extra heavy load (large fiber drums).
Fremco offers a 36 months full warranty on all non-wearing parts.
