Optical line driver

An eight-port line-driver unit incorporates circuits for eight RS-232 line drivers into one enclosure. Each driver segment extends an RS-232 serial link to a maximum distance of 2.5 km over an optical-fiber cable. Data input to each driver segment is via a standard 25-way D-connector. Output is via an ST-type connector for 50/125- or 62.5/125-micron fiber-optic cable.
