CommScope Inc.
today announced a new indoor/outdoor plenum fiber distribution cable to be offered in both the Uniprise and SYSTIMAX Solutions product lines. The cable, which will be available to order by February 14, will be offered in both single-unit and multi-unit designs and will contain up to 144 fibers.

"This new product helps end-users to achieve better network performance while minimizing the number of cables in their system," reports Sandra Young, vice president global marketing, Enterprise Solutions. "We believe it is the ideal solution when consolidation points are located in non-traditional spaces such as plenum or raised-floor computer rooms."

The single-unit cable is available ranging from two to 24 fibers each and the multi-unit cables are available from 36 to 144 fibers. Both single-unit and multi-unit cables are available in all fiber types that SYSTIMAX and Uniprise currently offer. The 900-micron tight-buffered construction allows for direct termination, eliminating the need for additional preparation before termination, explain company representatives.

To make the cable suitable for the outside plant environment, CommScope provides its standard ARID-CORE water blocking technology. In addition, the cable does not require additional protection since its black, UV-stabilized jacket is resistant to chemicals, moisture, abrasion, and sunlight.
