Light Brigade revamps Fiber Optics 1-2-3 Course on fiber fundamentals
Fiber-optic training provider Light Brigade, now a Hexatronic company, has announced a refresh of its Fiber Optics 1-2-3 course. The revamped course, which educates students on the fundamentals of fiber-optic communications, will debut November 30–December 4, 2021, in Fairbanks, AK, Savannah, GA, and Tallahassee, FL. Among other benefits, the course prepares students for the ETA Fiber Optics Installer (FOI) certification exam.
Curriculum changes include:
- Coverage of newer technology trends in areas such as endface geometry and air-blown fiber
- More content on connectors
- Updated training on splicing techniques and equipment
- Updated instruction on installation testing and troubleshooting.
Other changes include the provision to each student of a pre-packaged personal strip tool and shear that they can keep after completion of the class. The courses will take greater advantage of graphics designed to provide an in-depth explanation of the concepts covered. Students also will be able to access chapter reviews using the Kahoot! gamification and study tool.
Students who successfully complete the class will receive digital web-based badges via Light Brigade partner Credly. Besides helping students tout course completion on social media, web pages, and in signature lines, the digital badge will contain metadata that describes the students’ accreditation and the process required to earn it.
“With the insatiable need for fiber deployment and the growing skills gap, we felt it was imperative to launch this course now,” said Light Brigade President Martin Lee. “Light Brigade has always been at the forefront of fiber technology, and partnering with our parent company, Hexatronic, we are positioned to provide training on cutting-edge technologies and equipment.”
In addition to the schedule mentioned above, Light Brigade plans to offer Fiber Optics 1-2-3 courses in St. Louis, MO, Orlando, FL, Dallas, TX, and Seattle, WA, in the near future.
