Wave Broadband spreads gigabit broadband service across Washington, Oregon, California footprint
Wave Broadband says it now offers its Gig Speed Internet service throughout its West Coast coverage areas. The West Coast provider of fiber data and voice services will supply gigabit broadband access to residential and business customers throughout its Washington, Oregon, and California footprint.
Wave's residential gigabit connection to the internet was previously only available to select apartment and condo buildings in Seattle, San Francisco, and Portland. Wave will offer its Gig Speed Internet to residential customers at a retail promotional rate of $80 monthly for the first year, and a rate of $99 monthly after that. The service accommodates households with multiple users and devices, and enables simultaneous downloading and streaming. The service also includes its Unlimited Data plan, says Wave.
Potential subscribers can choose between the Fiber 1000 gigabit broadband service (a $70 monthly rate) or the 100-Mbps Fiber 100 service (a $50 monthly rate). Wave says it will not offer traditional TV service, but will offer access to its YouTube TV service for $35 monthly.
Wave's Gig Speed service class is designed to provide fast connectivity to smaller businesses with growing bandwidth demands, including cloud-based computing, off-site data storage, video-conferencing, file sharing, e-Commerce, content streaming, and providing Wi-Fi for staff and customers. According to Wave, there are no data usage limits with its Gig Speed for Business. Wave Business also provides gig fiber solutions and faster for large enterprise companies.
"We are thrilled to launch gigabit speeds throughout our coverage areas in Washington, Oregon, and California," said Harold Zeitz, Wave president and COO. "During the past several years, Wave has focused on growing our fiber network specifically to accommodate gigabit and faster connections for our customers. The demand for fast, reliable internet connections at an affordable price is growing, and our Gig Speed Internet is the ideal solution for both residential and business customers."
Wave is a cable and broadband services provider that serves 673,000 homes and more than 1,800 commercial clients on the West Coast. The company has recently upgraded its fiber backbone to support multiple 100G circuits (see "Wave Broadband upgrades fiber backbone to support multiple 100G circuits in San Francisco").
