SEPTEMBER 12, 2007 — North Central Telephone Cooperative (NCTC) of Macon County, TN, will upgrade services through Occam Networks Inc. NCTC purchased components of Occam's broadband loop carrier system to enable triple-play, IP video, and other services.

The telecom service provider considered deployment and turn up, scalability, and reliability when reviewing equipment suppliers for the network upgrade, says Ronnie Wilburn, VP of operations, NCTC. Using Occam's BLC 6252-02 ADSL2Plus blade, NCTC will upgrade to a hybrid network with video over copper lines to 5,000 ft., using active fiber to the home (FTTH) for subscriber areas beyond 5,000 ft. NCTC reaches residential and business customers in north central TN and south central KY.

Deploying the Occam blade will allow NCTC to carry multiple streams of high-definition video and higher data bandwidth, according to Occam representatives.
