Fiber connectivity specialist Clearfield, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLFD) has expanded its offerings within the FieldSmart Fiber Delivery Point (FDP) range. The new FieldSmart FDP Outdoor 48-Port Wall Mount Panel has been developed in response to the rapid growth of fiber deployment in multi-dwelling units (MDU), the company says.
Clearfield says the new wall mount unit bridges the gap between large-scale outside plant (OSP) deployments that require a traditional OSP cabinet that houses 288 to 1152 ports, and the small-scale wall-mount panels that support only a small number of users. Supporting up to 48 users, the new wall mount panel is ideally suited as a demarcation deployment device for the side of MDU, office park, or cell tower sites, the company claims.
"While always beneficial to have access to the inside plant, it is not always possible," comments Johnny Hill, COO for Clearfield. "The rapid proliferation of fiber in the OSP and the diversity of applications require the development of products that offer a high degree of configurability. The FieldSmart FDP Wall Mount mimics the functionality of a mini-hub providing a variety of distribution applications from straight interconnect to optical components."
The FieldSmart FDP Wall Mount is designed for the harsh environmental conditions of the outside plant. Supporting up to four Clearview Cassettes, the new FieldSmart FDP Wall Mount scales up to 48 users, providing full fiber protection when access to the inside structure is not possible. For ease of integration, the FDP Wall Mount ships with a field-deployed "knock-out" that allows for conduit entry while maintaining NEMA-4 performance. A swinging bulkhead supports and protects sub-unit slack storage.
The FieldSmart FDP Wall Mount is available now.
