FEBRUARY 21, 2008 -- Webster Calhoun Cooperative Telephone Association (WCCTA), based in Gowrie, IA, has partnered with Clearfield Inc. (search for Clearfield) to provide fiber management for its residential and business customers.
The PON deployment will encompass approximately 4,700 access lines across 16 exchanges for Boone, Calhoun, Greene, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Webster, and Wright Counties. According to WCCTA plant manager Don Reed, they will be expanding the FTTH service with more broadband access to their customers--including telephone, high-speed Internet, and IPTV--at a rate of 2-3 exchanges a year.
Clearfield, formerly known as APA Cables & Networks (search for APA Cables & Networks), says it is a leader in fiber management equipment. "The bottom line is we chose Clearfield because of good results we know they can deliver," Reed reports. "The fact that they're knowledgeable, our technicians like working with them, and they provide prompt delivery and competitive pricing is a bonus."
And neatness also counts--especially when working in a compact area with miles of cables, pigtails, and patch cords, etc. "Clearfield offers an end-to-end solution," Reed notes, "and, in the end, we appreciate that it's all contained in a neat, orderly environment."
