DECEMBER 4, 2008 -- Enablence Technologies Inc. (search for Enablence) says it was selected by Dansk Bredband A/S (search for Dansk Bredband), a broadband communications supplier in Denmark, to be the company's PON supplier. Dansk Bredband is planning to roll out an FTTH communications network comprising 50,000 homes over the next two years.
Dansk Bredband delivers a triple-play services via its own fiber-optic network and those of energy companies. Enablence says its PON equipment will enable Dansk Bredband to address the market for residential FTTH in Denmark while seamlessly interoperating with existing central office routing and switching equipment. The first project using Enablence equipment will be implemented in North Funen, Denmark, together with the NEF Foundation, a Danish power utility.
"Compared with other PON suppliers, Enablence has the best product in the market and a product that best matches Dansk Bredband's service portfolio's needs. Enablence's products will provide top quality data, voice and analogue, digital and video-on-demand services for us and our customers," explained Mikkel Jensen, technical director of Dansk Bredband. "Until now, many businesses have thought that it was beneficial to use only larger equipment suppliers, but in my view, the fact that Enablence's Networks Division is focused exclusively on access networks is an absolute strength. It provides far greater flexibility and allows the company to respond with more focused customer specific solutions."
