NOVEMBER 12, 2008 Alloptic (search for Alloptic) has signed a multi-year technology and distribution agreement with Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC; search for SAIC) Under the agreement SAIC will resell Alloptic equipment to federal, state, and military customers in both the U.S. and around the world. The agreement encompasses all of Alloptic's GEPON and 10GEPON equipment along with its RF over glass (RFoG) products.

This agreement coincides with SAIC's rollout of its Information Technology Infrastructure (ITI) modernization offering called Secure Converged Solution (SCS). A Layer 2 transport architecture, SCS is designed to offer government and commercial customers cost-effective, fully converged voice, video, and data networks that eliminate active electronics between the data center and the end user at distances ranging from 40 ft to 40 mi.

"The implementation of SCS means significant increases in bandwidth speeds and major reductions in IT-related power, space, and cooling expenses," says Jeffrey McGaughey, vice president of SAIC's IT Business Modernization Division. "We are pleased that Alloptic recognizes SAIC's leadership and commitment in the rapidly growing PON technology marketplace and has entrusted us to be its reseller to government customers."
