JANUARY 31, 2008 -- ENMRPlateau Telecommunications, the largest telephone cooperative in New Mexico, has purchased Occam Networks' (search for Occam Networks) Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) 6000 system as the centerpiece of its
voice and DSL services upgrade project at all 25 ENMRPlateau exchanges over the next three years.

"We are very excited about deploying the Occam BLC 6000 system in our network," reports Jeff Moore, ENMRPlateau's chief operating officer, Wireline Division. "With the growing need to maximize bandwidth delivery to each customer, we needed a partner with both the right technology and the right service support to make our replacement program successful. We have established a great professional relationship with Occam and are looking forward to working with them during and after deployment."

ENMRPlateau manages 13,000 lines across 25,000 square miles of New Mexico's eastern high plains. The upgrade features the deployment of more than 200 Occam blades to replace the system's existing local loop and DSLAMs with both POTS-only and POTS/ADLS2+ combination blades. The Occam blades purchased by ENMRPlateau include the BLC 6152, 6252, 6440, 6312, 6660, 6246, and EMS.

ENMRPlateau has also purchased Occam's new GPON offering to supplement copper services in one of the Cooperative's exchanges. The telco says it will implement the SIP-enabled VoIP served by a Metaswitch softswitch and high-speed DSL to its members.

"Occam is providing the advanced solutions and the support ENMRPlateau needs to improve and expand their copper-based services," said Nathan Harrell, vice president of sales for Occam Networks. "Their combined use of Occam for copper and fiber infrastructure is very common as telcos look to enhance their service offerings on a variety of media," he notes. "We are very pleased to be a part of ENMRPlateau's effort to increase product offerings and generate new revenue opportunities."
