ITRI, BroadLight promote GPON in Taiwan

JANUARY 15, 2008 -- GPON semiconductor and software provider BroadLight today announced that it has partnered with Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to promote GPON throughout the country.

JANUARY 15, 2008 -- GPON semiconductor and software provider BroadLight (search for Broadlight) today announced that it has partnered with Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to promote GPON (search for GPON) throughout the country.
 
"ITRI is highly-regarded in Taiwan as a technology enabler and has been very successful in establishing high-volume industries," reports Raphael Sankar, vice president of worldwide sales for BroadLight. "We are pleased to see GPON being selected as the ultra broadband access technology and are excited to have our end-to-end GPON solution become the technology powering ITRI's designs."
 
"ITRI and BroadLight will join hands to grow the GPON market in Taiwan by first leveraging BroadLight-powered GPON systems, and then facilitating a new industry cluster formed by optical communication device and equipment vendors," explains Dr. Bao-Shuh Paul Lin, ITRI's Information and Communications Labs' general director.  "ITRI has organized a GPON Industry Promotion Alliance in Taiwan with members such as ZyXEL, Alpha Networks, XAVi, TECOM, OPNET, TAINET, Billion Electric, Motorola Connected Home Solutions, Realtek Semiconductor, DELTA Networks, Senao Networks, Universal Microelectronics, Askey Computer, Infineon Taiwan, Fiber Optic Communications, Coretek Opto, and TAILYN Communication."
