ADTRAN 2nd Generation Gfast Portfolio

Feb. 20, 2019
ADTRAN expanded its Software-Defined Access portfolio with second-generation Gfast products, allowing for the transparent extension of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service capabilities. This marks the industry’s first commercially available gigabit-capable Gfast solution, meeting the need of customers to fully participate in a global hyper-connected world, according to ADTRAN. ADTRAN says it is the first to deliver Gfast systems that conform with Amendment 3 of the ITU-T G.fast standard, which doubles the usable spectrum from previously 106 MHz to 212 MHz.

Judge’s comment: “It is good to see a Gfast product with Gbps capability. ‘G’ does stand for gigabit, right? Yes, at this speed, service providers will not need to overbuild the existing copper twisted-pair service drop with fiber.”
