Quantifi Photonics Appoints Lawrence van der Vegt as Director of Sales – US West Coast

Feb. 2, 2023
Quantifi Photonics, a leader in high-density photonics test and measurement, has appointed Lawrence van der Vegt as Director of Sales – US West Coast.

The appointment is the latest in a string of recent hires including Klaus Engenhardt and Kees Propstra. The company says the new role will help support customers developing new photonics devices and technologies in the important West Coast market.

Van der Vegt has a long career in optical test and measurement in the Netherlands and United States, working with customers on a global scale. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in The Netherlands and has held a variety of optics test and measurement roles at Ando, Apex Technologies, and Yenista Optics, and most recently was a Subject Matter Expert and Product Line Manager at EXFO.

Kees Propstra, VP Marketing and General Manager USA for Quantifi Photonics says, “Lawrence is an optics veteran, and we’re thrilled to appoint such a high-caliber team member to one of our most important markets. With our unique product portfolio and his extensive test and measurement knowledge, we will be able to support a large variety of customers seeking viable test solutions for the next generation of photonics test challenges.”

The company has been working closely with leading photonics developers and manufacturers to offer a flexible and scalable suite of products designed to test optical sub-assemblies, photonic integrated circuits (PICs) such as silicon photonics and indium phosphide wafers and dies, and pluggable optical transceivers and is seeing interest from other photonics companies grow rapidly.

Van der Vegt says, “I see a significant increase in photonics-based applications, driven by the accelerated evolution of PICs, materials and technologies. Quantifi Photonics’ product portfolio and strategic focus are perfectly timed to address a broad scale of industries with test & measurement solutions, and I’m excited to be part of it.”
