GlobalNet/DATAIX establishes PoP in Sofia, Bulgaria
DATAIX, a Dutch internet exchange (IX) network of backbone provider GlobalNet, has expanded into Southeastern Europe via a new point of presence (PoP) in Sophia, Bulgaria. The PoP is based in Telepoint Sofia Centre (122 Ovtche pole Str., Sofia 1303). The PoP provides DATAIX network members with direct access to Southeastern Europe’s digital infrastructure and ecosystems within a global internet exchange network with 56 points throughout Eurasia.
GlobalNet says DATAIX’s new Sofia PoP enables the delivery of high-speed internet access and connectivity across Europe with full channel redundancy for its members. The PoP also provides stable access to local and international backbone infrastructure, providing more choice in terms of where to house a service. It also increases service resiliency, according to GlobalNet.
Services available include internet exchange, IP transit, remote IX, and DDoS protection.
“The PoP in Sofia is a hub not only for the Balkan region but also connected to Turkey and the Caucasus, so it might be useful for our members to get both European and Asian traffic here. We look forward to providing GlobaNet/DATAIX’s clients with a high-quality experience,” said Alex Surkoff, director of business development at DATAIX.
