TerraPower and Sabey Data Centers are developing plans to deploy nuclear power
On January 22, nuclear power company TerraPower announced that it is developing a strategic collaboration agreement with Sabey Data Centers (SDC) to leverage nuclear Natrium plants into SDC’s data center operations.
The companies will explore multiple projects to meet the data center energy demands, and TerraPower president and CEO Chris Levesque said the companies will use clean, reliable, and adaptable solutions.
“The energy sector is transforming at an unprecedented pace after decades of business as usual, and meaningful progress will require strategic collaboration across industries,” said Levesque in a press release. “Together, we can ensure advanced nuclear technology plays a vital role in securing a clean, resilient energy grid.”
TerraPower reports that its Natrium technology features a 345 MW sodium-cooled fast reactor with a patented molten salt-based energy storage system that can boost the system’s output to 500 MW. The first Natrium plant is expected to be online in 2030.
