Arelion announces new PoP in Marseille, France

Oct. 15, 2024
The new PoP will support the region’s position as a digital gateway for global internet traffic.

On October 15, Arelion announced that it is deploying a new Point-of-Presence (PoP) in Marseille, France, that will go live in Q1 2025. According to the company, the PoP will provide fully diverse IP connectivity and scalable 400G wavelength solutions that bypass high-traffic routes.

Located at Digital Realty’s MRS4 data center site, the new PoP joins Arelion’s existing Marseille PoP at Digital Realty’s MRS1 site, enhancing the company’s presence in the region.

Arelion reports that the PoP connects directly to 14 major subsea cables landing in Marseille, enabling and supporting international traffic flows while also providing local connectivity into Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, and Paris markets.

Christoph Lannert, Arelion’s deputy chief commercial officer, reported that Mersaeille’s thriving technology market and its position as a digital gateway for global internet traffic are creating a massive demand for reliable connectivity.

“Our latest network expansion leverages high-capacity, fully diverse connectivity solutions to support subsea traffic while serving the technology requirements of local network operators and content providers, enabling economic growth in global markets through digital transformation,” said Lannert in a press release.
