Jabil acquires Mikros Technologies

Oct. 3, 2024
The acquisition will allow Jabil to better support data center liquid cooling demands.

On October 3, Jabil Inc. announced that it has acquired liquid cooling solutions company Mikros Technologies LLC. Jabil reports that the thermal management capabilities of Mikros will enhance its existing data center solutions and enable infrastructure growth.

Ed Bailey, Jabil’s senior vice president and chief technology officer, said the acquisition will allow Jabil to extend its range of services provided to cloud service providers, hardware OEMs, and liquid cooling solutions providers.

“In addition to the data center ecosystem, we see significant opportunities in other end-markets that require thermal management,” said Bailey in a press release, “including automated test equipment for semiconductors, batteries, energy storage systems, and electric vehicles.”

Mikros Technologies reports that its proprietary microchannel cold plate designs are optimized to manage complex, high heat flux applications and can cool over one kilowatt per square centimeter. Mikros CEO Dave Matter said joining Jabil represents a significant path forward for the company.

“We can now scale our best-in-class liquid cooling capabilities to meet the thermal demands of the world’s leading brands alongside a high-performing team of people we enjoy working with,” said Matter in the same press release.

This acquisition is another step in Jabil’s strategy of enhancing its data center capabilities, following the acquisition of Intel’s Silicon Photonics-based pluggable optical transceiver product lines late last year.
