Cisco and NVIDIA announce Nexus HyperFabric AI clusters

The data center infrastructure solution promises a simplified way to harness generative AI.

On June 4, Cisco announced Nexus HyperFabric, a new AI cluster solution created in collaboration with NVIDIA that reportedly provides enterprise customers with a simplified way to deploy and operationalize generative AI and scale generative AI workloads.

The on-premise solution combines NVIDA’s AI software and the accelerated computing abilities of NVIDIA’s Tensor Core GPUs with Cisco’s AI-native networking and the VAST data platform to help users design, deploy, and manage large-scale fabrics across data centers, colocation facilities, and edge sites.

Cisco Networking executive vice president and general manager Jonathan Davidson said in a press release, “While the promise of AI is clear, the path forward for many just starting out is not. Customers often face economic and operational challenges to get an AI stack up and running. Cisco is committed to making the deployment and operation of AI infrastructure simpler. Together with NVIDIA, we are delivering a simple-to-deploy, cloud-operated AI-stack solution for on-premises deployments that builds on our Cisco Networking Cloud platform vision for automation and simplicity.”

Cisco is expected to offer trial access to select customers at the end of 2024, followed by general availability.
