On May 16, connected data center and fiber network solution provider DC BLOX announced the completion of a new dark fiber route that connects its Myrtle Beach Cable Landing Station (CLS) to the Atlanta Connectivity Exchange. The company reports the East-West route will enable hyperscalers, communication providers, ISPs, and enterprises in the Southeast to connect regionally and internationally.
DC BLOX chief operating officer Kurt Stoever said in a press release, “With our regional colocation data centers, the Myrtle Beach CLS, our regional network, and this new dark fiber route, DC BLOX is building the infrastructure needed to support the Southeast’s rapid growth. Digital infrastructure is the foundation that will drive the economies of the 21st century, and DC BLOX is proud to be enabling our communities to thrive.”
The company reported that the route passes through many rural areas across South Carolina and Georgia and can serve as a network express route to Atlanta for ISPs and local Cooperatives that are enabling broadband services for underserved and rural communities.
DC BLOX is also building a dark fiber ring around Atlanta, which will connect into two hyperscale-ready data center facilities currently in development as well as the East-West route.
