LuxNetwork to deploy Ciena 6500 packet-optical transport system to improve European data center interconnect services
Luxembourg's LuxNetwork S.A., a subsidiary within the NomoTech Group, will enhance its data center interconnect and fiber-optic network services portfolio with the installation of the Ciena (NYSE: CIEN) 6500 Packet-Optical Platform, the networking technology house says. The upgrade will see network capacity increase to 100 Gbps per wavelength to support a variety of transmission rate offerings.
In addition to data center interconnect, LuxNetwork offers fiber-optic WAN connectivity and a suite of managed services to enterprise customers and international telecom operators. Use of the 6500 packet-optical transport platform will enable LuxNetwork to offer such services as 10 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet, 8G and 16G Fibre Channel, and encryption for protection of in-flight data. The upgrade comes as LuxNetwork consolidates and modernizes its infrastructure following its acquisition and integration of Telecom Luxembourg.
"Ciena's 6500 platform and encryption solutions are essential to our network expansion and service delivery strategy because they allow us to offer new, reliable security solutions to key markets such as the financial sector that rely on encrypted data transport to protect trades and comply with industry regulations," said Valentin Grempka, LuxNetwork's optical network manager.
