"Alaska Communications will be an excellent channel partner. We're excited to have them join our team. In addition to providing interconnectivity via the CyrusOne IX [Internet Exchange] to strategic data center sites throughout the United States, we also have expertise with our energy customers' data and IT management needs. We look forward to working with Alaska Communications to serve new customers in the region," said Josh Snowhorn, vice president and general manager of interconnection, CyrusOne.

Alaska Communications is the only Alaska-based carrier that's Ethernet 2.0 certified. Its customers include oil and gas, government, finance, healthcare, and education organizations. CyrusOne, meanwhile, says that its customers include several energy companies who need IT infrastructure and connectivity for energy production, seismic processing, and oil and gas data management (see "CyrusOne adds 100G data center interconnectivity via BTI Systems").
