Internet exchange DE-CIX New York has established a new point of presence (PoP) within the New York campus of data center services company CoreSite.
"This is our second deployment with CoreSite, strengthening a partnership that continues to intensify," according to Frank Orlowski, chief marketing officer for DE-CIX. "We are committed to broadening our footprint in New York/New Jersey, bringing new PoPs online to increase the value of our exchange for customers and ensuring true neutrality across the board.
"CoreSite's New York campus offers exceptional access to a growing network of New Jersey-based companies and networks that seek the most efficient and secure ways to deliver data across the global Internet," Orlowski concluded.
The CoreSite New York campus includes two data center facilities – NY1, with more than 48,000 square feet of data center space in downtown Manhattan, and NY2, with more than 236,000 square feet of space in Secaucus, NJ.
Launched in 2014, DE-CIX New York is Open-IX-certified and leverages its DE-CIX Apollon technology infrastructure. The exchange offers more than 100 access points across eight data centers in the New York/New Jersey metro region. DE-CIX New York has been rapidly adding new networks, with the total number of members now approaching 70. Connected networks include global ISPs, cloud hosting companies, education networks, and others.
DE-CIX New York is an outgrowth of the European DE-CIX Internet exchange (see, for example, "DE-CIX finishes 100G backbone fiber-optic network").
