China Telecom selects IP core and edge routers from Alcatel-Lucent
Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) says that China Telecom will deploy the system house's 7950 XRS IP Core Router and 7750 Service Router. China Telecom will use the systems to support expansion of its 4G LTE wireless network.
The 7950 XRS, which China Telecom has already deployed in Jiangsu province and Shanghai (see "Alcatel-Lucent lands IP core router deals with CenturyLink, China Telecom, China Unicom, and China Mobile"), will now support the requirements of data centers in Beijing and Guangzhou, according to Alcatel-Lucent. The 7750 Service Router will see deployment in seven major provinces, the company adds. The new systems should be ready for service in China Telecom's network in December, Alcatel-Lucent says.
Taking into account the previous deployments, Alcatel-Lucent says it now provides 25% of China Telecom's new build core routing network capabilities and 15% percent of China Telecom's new-build edge routing capabilities.
