JDSU TrueSpeed VNF

March 17, 2015
With TrueSpeed VNF, JDSU has taken a test function that resides in its T-BERD/MTS equipment and virtualized it. As such, the solution assesses customer quality of experience in a virtualized computing environment.

By centralizing the point where the test data gets analyzed with software, the use of TrueSpeed VNF will surely decrease truck rolls, leading to improved workforce efficiency, and will enable network service providers to proactively monitor network quality, isolate issues, and flag potential future issues before they might affect live traffic. Judge's Comment.

With TrueSpeed VNF, JDSU has taken a test function that resides in its T-BERD/MTS equipment and virtualized it. As such, the solution assesses customer quality of experience in a virtualized computing environment. It provides centralized, software-based test capabilities with software clients that generate standardized measurements. Specifically, TrueSpeed offers IETF-standardized RFC 6349 compliance so that customer care representatives at a central site like a call center can evaluate the customer experience. Field technicians often do not have to be dispatched.

Additionally, metro and core network technicians can verify performance between Internet points of presence, data centers, and network handoffs. And a field technician using the T-BERD/MTS test equipment can use TrueSpeed at the far-end of their test without the need for a second technician or device.

The related efficiencies, including a reduction in service call times and dispatches, can lead to a 40% reduction in customer service costs, JDSU says.
