Infinera Cloud Xpress and XT-500 Datacenter Interconnect Solution

March 13, 2016
Infinera's datacenter interconnect solution includes the Cloud Xpress family and the DTN-X XT-500. The Cloud Xpress is an optimized WDM platform for cloud service providers, Internet content providers (ICPs), Internet Exchange service providers (IXPs), and other large-scale data center operators for networks of tens to hundreds of kilometers.
The DTN-X XT-500 complements the Cloud Xpress for longer reach applications of thousands of kilometers.

Infinera's datacenter interconnect solution has been purpose built to address the needs for maximum bandwidth and minimal complexity. Salient features include:

  • Hyper-scale density, integrating Infinera's photonic integrated circuit (PIC) technology to deliver 500 Gbps of line-side superchannel bandwidth to deliver 1 Tbps of input and output capacity in just two rack units (RUs) while supporting a flexible combination of 10, 40, and 100 gigabit Ethernet (GbE) clients.
  • Simplified operations via a rack-and-stack form factor and a flexible software approach to management.
  • Plug n Play Efficiency, via seamless integration with Infinera FlexILS line system for long-reach applications using XT-500 and GMPLS automation.
  • Low power per rack – less than half as much power per Gbps as traditional DWDM systems and less than many newer competitive systems.

Judge's comment: "With an impressively low power consumption of only 1 Watt per Gbps of WDM transmission, the DTN-X XT-500 delivers up to 21 Tbps of capacity in a single rack."
