WorldPort Communications Inc. (Houston, TX) signed papers to acquire EnerTel, an alternative telecommunications services provider in the Netherlands. EnerTel operates an 1100-km fiber-optic backbone network throughout the Netherlands and holds interconnection agreements with many regional and international telecommunications carriers. WorldPort, which offers voice, data, and high-bandwidth services worldwide, is developing a high-bandwidth international network to be linked by undersea fiber-optic cables.
