Call-Net Enterprises Inc. (Toronto) extended its North American presence with the acquisition of fonorola (Montreal) for roughly Can$1.8 billion. fonorola`s assets include a 23,000-route-km fiber-optic network now under construction. When completed, the fonorola network will be one of only two transnational networks in Canada. Call-Net also owns Sprint Canada.
