Shortly before the holiday break, Leviton revealed it had acquired fellow cabling-technology provider Brand-Rex Ltd. The addition of the Scotland-based supplier of copper and fiber-optic cables and related products for network infrastructure and high-performance industrial applications will expand Leviton's product portfolio and its presence in Europe and other parts of the globe. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Brand-Rex will become part of the Leviton Network Solutions division and will continue to be managed by its CEO, Martin Hanchard, who will report directly to Ross Goldman, executive vice president and general manager of Leviton Network Solutions. However, Brand-Rex products will continue to use the Brand-Rex name; Leviton and Brand-Rex will maintain separate sales and distribution channels as well as existing manufacturing operations as well.

"Leviton's acquisition of Brand-Rex will enable Leviton to offer truly end-to-end global solutions to our customers, while ensuring they receive the same high-quality products and services they've come to expect," said Daryoush Larizadeh, president and chief operating officer of Leviton. "The natural synergies between Leviton and Brand-Rex allow for a pure growth opportunity as we strengthen and expand our geographic and vertical industry presence."

"One of our long-term goals has been to become a strategic contributor to a large multinational industrial group," added Hanchard. "This transaction will allow us to enhance our product offering in our core European, Middle East, and Asia Pacific markets; leverage shared R&D resources to meet the need for bandwidth expansion and growing data transmission speeds; and support our customers and strategic channel partners with a global service platform."
