Openface doubles fiber footprint with Zerofail acquisition
Business services provider Openface has acquired fellow Montreal-based services provider Zerofail. The acquisition will double its fiber-optic network footprint in Montreal, extend its points of presence to include New York and Atlanta, and add point-to-point wireless capabilities to its portfolio.
Founded in 1996, Openface operates a data center in Montreal and offices in Toronto, New York, and Bangkok. Zerofail offers outsourced IT infrastructure as well as fiber-optic and point-to-point wireless Internet connectivity. This latter capability covers the island of Montreal, with some areas capable of speeds up to 1 Gbps, Openface asserts. The service also is available in the Metro Toronto area, where the company enjoys connections to multiple data centers.
Zerofail also manages a data center on Nun's Island in Montreal.
"With the rise of cloud computing services, which pose security challenges, demand for private networks has increased significantly. Five years ago, we began building our own network whenever it was possible and now, with the acquisition of Zerofail, we're taking Openface's capacity and service offering to the next level," says Andrew Lassner, Openface CEO.
"We are practically doubling the company's resources, both from a technological and a human resources standpoint, which allows us to provide even more value for clients and for Montreal businesses who require superior connectivity, high-quality telecommunications services, and private networks," Lassner concluded.
