Fiber-optic network services provider euNetworks Group Ltd. has added 130 km to its footprint in Ireland with the acquisition of Dublin-based Inland Fibre Telecom. Terms of the deal, exercised via the service provider's euNetworks Ireland Private Fiber Ltd. subsidiary, were not disclosed.

euNetworks has owned and operated a network in Dublin for a number of years, connecting it with other parts of the company's pan-European infrastructure (see, for example, "euNetworks turns up 8.8-Tbps network between London and Dublin").

"The acquisition of Inland Fibre has added further uniqueness to our fiber footprint in Dublin, creating new resilient routes in and out of some key business parks, as well as connecting important data centers," said Brady Rafuse, euNetworks' CEO. "This is a highly complementary business to euNetworks and further strengthens our already dominant position in Dublin."

The Inland Fibre network includes what euNetworks described as "a number of unique features in the market." The fiber-optic network includes routes along the city's canalways, diversity options to key data centers in the city, and access to business parks in Maynooth and Naas.

euNetworks is no stranger to acquisitions, having purchased Switzerland's Fibre Lac last year (see "euNetworks moves into Switzerland with Fibre Lac expansion") and Germany's LambdaNet Communications in 2011 (see "euNetworks closes LambdaNet Communications acquisition").

The company also recently opened a 200-Gbps route in the London area (see "euNetworks rolls out 200G DWDM with Ciena").
