Seikoh Giken acquires Seiko fiber-optics

May 19, 2005 Chiba, Japan -- Seikoh Giken (SG) has acquired the optical fiber business of Seiko Instruments (SI). The transaction is expected to be completed by September 1, 2005, through application for approval by related countries. The acquisition of Seiko's manufacturing facility in China is scheduled for completion by the middle of January 2006.

May 19, 2005 Chiba, Japan -- Seikoh Giken (SG) has acquired the optical fiber business of Seiko Instruments (SI). The transaction is expected to be completed by September 1, 2005, through application for approval by related countries. The acquisition of Seiko's manufacturing facility in China is scheduled for completion by the middle of January 2006.

Under the terms of the acquisition, SG will acquire SI's fiber-optic businesses in Japan, China, Germany, Singapore, and the U.S., to include manufacturing capability products such as ferrules, connectors, polishers, polishing consumables, attenuators, jumpers, etc.

SG says the acquisition will enhance its organization by allowing it to realize higher market growth through a wider product portfolio, deeper technologies, and expanded sales channels.
