May 19, 2005 Chiba, Japan -- Seikoh Giken (SG) has acquired the optical fiber business of Seiko Instruments (SI). The transaction is expected to be completed by September 1, 2005, through application for approval by related countries. The acquisition of Seiko's manufacturing facility in China is scheduled for completion by the middle of January 2006.
Under the terms of the acquisition, SG will acquire SI's fiber-optic businesses in Japan, China, Germany, Singapore, and the U.S., to include manufacturing capability products such as ferrules, connectors, polishers, polishing consumables, attenuators, jumpers, etc.
