April 28, 2005 San Francisco, CA -- Fabrinet, an engineering and electromechanical manufacturing services company, has announced its intention to purchase JDS Uniphase's (JDSU's) manufacturing facilities in Fuzhou, China. Under the arrangement, Fabrinet will acquire all assets and operations related to the Fuzhou plant, including R&D and the manufacture of products such as crystals and precision optics. According to a press release, the 225,000 square ft. Fabrinet has been providing manufacturing services to JDSU since 2000; in December 2004, the company acquired JDSU's manufacturing facilities in Singapore and Bintan, Indonesia. Previously this month, JDSU announced its intent to divest manufacturing operations in Ewing and Mountain Lakes, NJ, turning the facilities over to Fabrinet as part of a cost-savings initiative.
