Telecom Italia to purchase Tiscali's fiber network

August 3, 2005 Milan, Italy -- Telecom Italia has agreed to purchase Tiscali International Network's fiber-optic network for a total consideration of €8 million.

August 3, 2005 Milan, Italy -- Telecom Italia has agreed to purchase Tiscali International Network's fiber-optic network for a total consideration of €8 million.

The fiber-optic network spans 15,000 km and covers 12 European countries. The transaction does not include the disposal of Tiscali's IP and VoIP international and national networks. Tiscali Group will remain the owner and controller of these networks.

The transaction is subject to approval by competition authorities.
