DataBank nabs four Houston-area data centers from CyrusOne for $670 million

Jan. 25, 2022
The acquisition will add more than 300,000 square feet of raised-floor data center capacity and 42.5 MW of critical IT load to DataBank’s holdings.

DataBank, a provider of enterprise-class colocation, interconnection, and managed cloud services, says it has entered into an agreement with CyrusOne to purchase four data centers in the Houston, TX metro area. When the $670 million transaction is complete, it will expand DataBank’s portfolio to more than 65 facilities and 2 million square feet of raised-floor data center capacity. The transaction is expected to close in late Q1 2022, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals.

Three of the four Houston facilities are located on a single campus that is the area's primary interconnection point with over 30 fiber networks, 3500 cross connects, and public cloud on-ramps from AWS and Google. The acquisition will add more than 300,000 square feet of raised-floor data center capacity and 42.5 MW of critical IT load to DataBank’s holdings, as well as blue-chip customers from the area’s healthcare, financial services, energy, media, and software sectors.

“We are excited to add the Houston market to the DataBank portfolio,” commented DataBank CEO Raul Martynek. “With our deep roots in Texas, it was a logical metro for us to expand into and allows us to bring our digital infrastructure and interconnection solutions to the 4th largest metro in the U.S.”

With the addition of Houston, DataBank now has a presence in 27 metro markets.
