Everstream to buy Pennsylvania fiber assets from Uniti

Nov. 10, 2020
The new infrastructure includes fiber networks in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, which Everstream says it will connect to its networks in other cities in the Midwest, including Chicago.

Fiber-based business services provider Everstream says it has agreed to buy fiber network assets in Pennsylvania from Uniti. The transaction will see Everstream add more than 5,600 route miles to its network, an increase in its total footprint of more than 35%. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The AMP Capital Global Infrastructure platform, the majority owner of Everstream, will provide funding.

The new infrastructure includes fiber networks in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, which Everstream says it will connect to its networks in other cities in the Midwest, including Chicago (see "Everstream to offer fiber network services in metro Chicago"). The infrastructure covered in the agreement includes both metro and long-haul fiber and includes 10 additional cities beyond Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

Everstream will pick up services currently being supplied to Uniti customers on these networks, including Ethernet and internet services of up to 100 Gbps.

“Everstream’s acquisition of the Uniti network assets in Pennsylvania provides reach into new markets, from which we will continue to densify the network,” said Everstream President and CEO Brett Lindsey. “The network spans the state, and these markets will now experience Everstream’s unrivaled commitment to customer service and the unique way in which we deliver services.”

The purchase complements Everstream’s ongoing initiative to invest $300 million to expand its footprint (see “Everstream announces new market targets, closes LightBound acquisition” and “Business fiber network service provider Everstream closes debt financing of $342.5 million”).
